Criminal Record Disclosure, making your business secure and your clients safer.

Depending on the needs of your business, Hantec Systems can provide three different levels of Criminal Record Disclosure. These are Basic Disclosure, Standard Disclosure and Enhanced Disclosure.

Each level of disclosure contains different information. This information is obtained directly from the Police National Computer and, in the case of Enhanced Disclosure, from Police intelligence.

Hantec Systems are registered to countersign applications for and process information contained in these different Disclosure Reports.

Using Hantec Systems to obtain the relevant disclosure report means that you gain the following advantages:

• There is less administration and so your costs are reduced.
• There is no need for individuals in your business to be specifically trained and registered to countersign applications.
• Confidential material is processed off site and in total compliance with both BS7858 and the Data Protection Act.

Hantec Systems employees are trained to meet the requirements of BS7878. This means that each application is dealt with swiftly and in total confidence.

Which Report?
Companies are responsible for making sure that they carefully screen employees for specific roles. The Disclosure reports from the CRB are available through Hantec Systems and provide you with the following information.

• Basic Disclosure - Available to individuals who can choose to show it to employers (or anyone else). A Basic Disclosure report shows all convictions held at national level which are not 'spent' under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

• Standard Disclosure - Usually required in cases of exceptions to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. For example people involved regularly with children, young people, the elderly, sick or handicapped, administration of the law and other sensitive areas. This report includes details of convictions, including 'spent' convictions, and nationally held cautions. An application for Standard Disclosure must be countersigned by a registered person.

• Enhanced Disclosure - Usually required in situations where the candidate is applying for positions involving regular care for, training, supervising or being in sole charge of young people and vulnerable adults. It can also be required for certain statutory licensing purposes and judicial appointments. This report contains similar information to the Standard Disclosure report and will include local police records, such as relevant non-conviction information. As with Standard Disclosure, an application for Enhanced Disclosure must be countersigned by a registered person.

Selecting the relevant report is very important and sometimes the "rules" are not clear. The Rehabilitation Offenders Act (click here for more information) contains details of roles where exclusions apply to the disclosure of "spent" convictions. This means that Standard or even Advanced disclosure may be needed in some cases. If you need clarification, contact Hantec Systems for advice.
